Privacy

We have zero servers. We cannot see your documents even if we wanted to.

Your PDFs are opened, parsed, and spoken locally on your Android device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account tied to anything you read.

There is no document server

YapPDF has no backend that accepts files. There is no endpoint to upload to, which means there is nothing for us to read, retain, or leak.

No account, no telemetry profile

You do not sign in, so no profile is built around your reading. No email address is collected and no document history is transmitted.

Uninstalling is the delete button

The app stores only what it needs while a document is open. Removing the app removes everything it held — there is no server-side copy to request.

Android permissions

What the app asks for, and why.

YapPDF requests three permissions, each tied to a specific job. None of them grant access to the contents of your device beyond the file you choose to open.

Storage Access Framework
Only used to open the specific PDF you pick. You choose the file through Android's own picker, and YapPDF reads nothing else on your device.
Foreground Service
Keeps speech running reliably while you use other apps or lock the screen. Android requires a visible notification whenever this service is active.
Notifications
Hosts the playback controls and progress indicator so you can pause, resume, or change speed without reopening the app.

Privacy policy

The full policy, right here on this site.

Effective date: 20 September 2026 · Applies to the app “YapPDF: PDF Voice Reader” on Google Play.

1. Overview

YapPDF: PDF Voice Reader (the "App") is developed by Tentor Production (the "Developer"). This policy describes how the App handles information. In short: it does not collect, transmit, or store your documents or personal data on any server, because the App does not operate any servers.

The App is built to process everything locally. Reading this policy should take less time than importing your first PDF.

2. Documents you open

PDF files are chosen by you through Android's Storage Access Framework, read directly from your device's storage, parsed in the App's memory, and converted to speech by the on-device text-to-speech engine.

Your documents are never uploaded, transmitted, cached on remote infrastructure, or made accessible to the Developer or any third party. There is no cloud component — no upload endpoint exists.

3. Data we do not collect

The App collects no personal information. It does not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or advertising identifiers. It contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking libraries.

Because there is no account system, there is no registration data, no reading history tied to an identity, and no profile of any kind.

4. Data stored on your device

The App stores only what it needs to function: your library state (imported document references and reading position) and your preferences such as selected voice, accent, and playback speed. All of this lives in the App's private storage on your device.

This data never leaves your phone. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all of it, including any recent-document references.

5. Permissions and why they exist

Storage Access Framework — used only to open the specific PDF file you select. The App reads nothing else on your device.

Foreground Service — keeps speech running reliably while you use other apps or lock your screen. Android requires a visible notification whenever this service is active.

Notifications — hosts the playback controls and progress indicator so you can pause, resume, or change speed without reopening the App.

None of these permissions grant the App or the Developer access to the contents of your device beyond the file you choose to open.

6. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Since no data is collected at all, no data from children can exist on our side.

7. Third-party services

The App uses the text-to-speech engine already installed on your Android device. That engine is part of your operating system and is governed by your device manufacturer's policies, not by the Developer. The App itself integrates no third-party services, servers, or SDKs that receive your data.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes on Google Play.

9. Contact

For any question about this policy or the App's behaviour, contact the Developer directly. Every message is read by a human.
